The Jislon plastic traffic islands were installed only 3 months ago but they have now suffered damage.
Just like the dreadful armadillos that they are protecting.
The top island in Middlewood Street looked like this today.
The front bollard has been smashed out of its socket.
It was intact, having come away completely from its mounting.
Looks like the socket is damaged.
I decided to remove the bollard and put it in the verge, to prevent it ending up in the cycle lane and causing a crash.
These plastic islands have been more effective than other measures, but they are not tough enough to provide permanent protection for cycling.
