MCR/Salford to Bury (NCN6)

I'm working on a pen and ink map of NCN6 to go into the summer GMCC newsletter, which reminded me that I was going to add this route as a page on the blog.

The section between Princes Bridge on the Salford/Manchester border and the centre of Bury is over 80% traffic free, with just a few sections on busy roads. It makes for a nice afternoon's ride out and back from Manchester, helped by being downhill on the way back. Riders from Bury will be going uphill on the return, but may benefit from the wind on their backs. The total length is about 11.5 miles.

A couple of the signposted sections in Salford are worth avoiding, the crossing of the A6 is poor on the new route, best go across at the traffic lights between Oldfield Road and Adelphi Street. Also Littleton Road is dreadful, whilst the river-side alternative is a little rough but very pleasant.

I will post links to each of the sections of the ride as I get round to writing them up.
