Concept plans for the new Chorlton cycle route have been released to the local press and were featured on local TV this morning.
The key feature from the images in the MEN is that the junctions appear to include separate cycle phases at the traffic lights. This is a huge improvement over the Oxford Road corridor where the junctions are dangerous.
Good too see protected junctions, sad that another compromise has been made in creating space for them- combining them with waiting areas to cross for pedestrians. I have to think there's a good reason cycle crossings at protected junctions are on the inside of the junction everywhere that I've seen them, conflicts with pedestrians probably, which may turn Chorlton residents against future cycling projects.
