It's simply of poor quality, and I can't see how the surface is suitable for any user (cyclist, pedestrian, equestrian alike). Considering its next to a purpose built concrete track for a private bus companies use only, it's a dreadful use of public money which helps nobody and seems an afterthought to appease people.pauldavies83https://www.blogger.com/profile/01578730859004157206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5245014510735955366.post-86727990306111833852016-07-20T14:15:33.147+01:002016-07-20T14:15:33.147+01:00rode it for the first time this morning, loose chi...rode it for the first time this morning, loose chippings is not a great surface for cycle tracks but considering how much of it has been laid around here recently I presume there is a considered reason for it's use (whether it has been considered _properly_ is another matter). What is not acceptable is the shoddy surface, it is so lumpy and uneven, why did the council sign off on such a badly finished track?Donkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01919359296842026180noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5245014510735955366.post-24981886095176664352016-05-06T11:17:17.357+01:002016-05-06T11:17:17.357+01:00If the plan was to make it more accessible to hors...If the plan was to make it more accessible to horse riders at the expense of cycling convenience, then someone needs to point out to TfGM that outside of wild west films horse riding will only ever really be a leisure activity - I've never met anyone who commutes by horse. This surface treatment has compromised what could and should be a valuable route for commuter cycling. Then again, perhaps gravel was just cheaper - they used all the tarmac on carparks - and we all know people on bikes are second class citizens.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12957616409432299713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5245014510735955366.post-38935283701141289142016-04-29T11:58:16.981+01:002016-04-29T11:58:16.981+01:00A quote from the latest Cycling at TfGM email news...A quote from the latest Cycling at TfGM email newsletter

"The 4.5 mile route between Leigh and Ellenbrook has been specially surfaced for cyclists, walkers and horse riders."

If it is specially surfaced for cyclists, why is it loose gravel, which reduces grip and traction.
pauldavies83https://www.blogger.com/profile/01578730859004157206noreply@blogger.com
